Hemasiri Wijayagunawardane
Former Sri Lanka Air Force Avionics Officer
Hemasiri Wijayagunawardane was raised in a small village in Sri Lanka's North Western Province. He studied locally before completing his secondary and advanced level education in Kuliyapitiya.
After qualifying for the University of Peradeniya, he chose military service and joined General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. He was later commissioned into the Sri Lanka Air Force as an Electronics Engineer.
Hemasiri served for 24 years as an Avionics Officer, including with No. 10 Squadron during the conflict. He was present during the attack on Bandaranaike International Airport on 24 July 2001 and later held senior technical and leadership roles.
After retiring from the Air Force, Hemasiri moved into corporate leadership. He now serves as CEO of Green Soils (Pvt) Ltd, which produces and exports organic growing media.
His journey brings together rural values, military discipline, technical expertise, and corporate leadership.
