Halo Trauma and Map Control, Then I Defended Meta's Instagram Deal
April 15, 2025
Halo memories turned into spartan-laser map control; hot-chicken clip amused; Meta antitrust news sparked a defense of Instagram and WhatsApp deals Old Halo memories turn into a laser-precise obsession with Valhalla control and weapon timing. Then Meta antitrust headlines drag me into a defense of the Instagram
Beating Mikey De Alwis in Halo 3
I knew Mikey De Alwis, growing up, way before my dad died. And I remember, when. my dad was around, I went to his place at Flower Road, and played Halo, but lo and behold, this dude, showed me how to hack, or break the map boundaries, which to me, back then, was the coolest thing ever.
Later, we had Halo 3, to play, on my little birthday party. We played, High Ground, and I quickly went to grab some heavy weapons and killed him 2 to 0. I think Sniper Rifle and Rocket Launcher. But then, and this is the first time I played Halo 3. And first game, of the birthday party. This dude, found something new. A spartan laser, and I am guessing, he must've known it, or where it was. And he lasered me from across the map, like one shot. Unlike me, where only a sniper headshot works. And it frightened me, so badly, because I know, like Any%, this f***er, might have like dangerous tricks up his sleeve. And no chance with that spartan laser. So I quickly made up an excuse and ended the game immediately.
When the game ended, even though I ended it, the score read 2 -- 1.
And I reminded him, as I do now, that I won.
Defending Meta’s Instagram and WhatsApp Purchases
Meta's purchase of Instagram, was for over $1 billion dollars, which only had 14 employees at the time, but a good vision.
This could have quickly failed, there was a short history of Instagram.
WhatsApp, had a good business for $19b, but they were in a totally different market, which would have been harder for Meta to enter, on their own, as they are doing things with mobile phones primarily in India.
Americans don't use WhatsApp, at all, only people in Asia do
They bought-in because of the valuable brand presence, and stronghold in India, which allowed them to expand.
Trump, ease up on them
