Instead of executing Jesus Christ by crucifixion, the Jewish sanhedrin should've dragged Jesus to the hereditary line of David or Joshua and then they should've taken him to look directly at the Ark of the Covenant--G-d's vehicle in this world. As he claimed he was the son of G-d, who are we to deny his claim, only G-d must kill him.
If Yahweh chose, Yahweh would've instantly killed Jesus Christ just as Yahweh killed others who looked at the Ark of the Covenant previously. That would've been the fitting end. As the man was innocent, save for less than lethal blasphemy and revealing the secrets entrusted to him.

After looking, Jesus should've touched the Ark of the Covenant too. Breaking Divine Law like Uzzah did, he would've been instantly killed by being engulfed in incandescent fire bolts. That would've been enough to try Jesus and prove him. I don't know, even then what happened was to fulfil the book.
